Cadet Life - Discover the World!

Sir,

munroe Here is the most recent picture I have of myself in uniform. It is from the Fourth of July concert for the 2012 New Cadets when I was a BEAST I Squad Leader. I have been in Europe since July 27th when my French AIAD to Lyon, France began. Currently I am on a semester abroad at La Universite Catholique de Lille, in Lille, France (near Calais and Belgium).

My classes officially start this coming Thursday and this afternoon there is an orientation for the International Students. The last couple of weeks I have taken the opportunity to experience as much as possible and continue working on my French language skills, which I'm glad to report are improving dramatically.

The other pictures I've attached are few highlights of where I've been so far. The first is of Eze, a medieval city high on the cliffs overlooking the Mediterrainean Sea. The second is Fort St. Jean and le vieux port (old port) of Marseilles. The last is of Napolean's tomb at Les Invalides in Paris.

Either next weekend or the weekend after I am planning on taking a trip to Normandy to visit the American Cemetary there and see Omaha Beach. At West Point I am double-majoring in American History and French.

CDT Brooks Korvan played lacrosse for Team USA in Japan this summer; he's some great pictures! CDT Jason Peyer went to France, did a site analysis on Pegasus Bridge for an engineering project, toured Normandy and the cemetery, and then visited the French Military Academy.

This is the cemetery at Omaha Beach where the American Soldiers are buried that fought and died on the beach during the D-Day invasion.
This is the standing stones of Carnac. This is one of the most visited sites in France as there are fields of rocks that seem to be aligned in a mysterious way. No one knows the reason for their alignment; however, there are many theories that exist.
